Project Find, Link and Retain Plus (FLR)
Project Find, Link and Retain Plus (FLR), implemented by the Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV (ZNNP+) with support from ViiV Healthcare, is a community-driven initiative that aims to improve access to quality HIV services for children, adolescents, pregnant, and lactating women in Zimbabwe. The program seeks to increase service coverage to 85% by December 2024, strengthen referral pathways for timely identification, initiation, and retention in treatment, and support adherence through Mentor Mothers, Community HIV/AIDS Support Agents (CHASAs), and support groups. It also integrates mental health and case management services to provide holistic support for survivors of violence and vulnerable clients, while addressing persistent barriers to care and contributing to the national 95-95-95 targets. By strengthening community systems and promoting inclusive service delivery, Project FLR plays a critical role in ensuring that no one is left behind in Zimbabwe’s HIV response and in advancing the goal of ending AIDS by 2030. The project’s primary focus is on finding, linking, and retaining priority populations—especially children (0–14 years), adolescents, pregnant, and lactating women—in HIV care and treatment. It promotes demand creation for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services, enhances quality improvement in service delivery, and deploys community cadres such as Mentor Mothers and Community HIV/AIDS Support Agents (CHASAs) to strengthen retention in care.
The program also integrates mental health and case management services, ensuring survivors of violence and other vulnerable clients receive the support they need. Initially piloted in Manicaland Province, Project FLR has expanded to four additional districts across Mashonaland East and Midlands Provinces. This expansion reflects the program’s commitment to scaling up best practices, improving HIV outcomes, and contributing to the broader 95-95-95 Fast Track Strategy. Through its work, Project FLR not only strengthens service delivery within health facilities but also extends its reach into communities, addressing gaps in access, quality, and retention, and ultimately advancing the goal of ending AIDS in Zimbabwe by 2030.
